In 1997

I established 317 Designs, Inc.
I started wholesale business with the brand name KAZUYO NAKANO NEW YORK.
I began to participate in the ENK accessories circuit and also began selling my designs at the well-known high-end specialty department store, Henri Bendel.
In the same year, I opened my flagship retail store in the Nolita neighborhood of Manhattan.

 

In 1998

My MONDANO collection came out and was a hit with New York City women.

My next collection, FIORINA, did equally well and, on front window displays in Henri Bendel, became a best seller for the department store. The success was so great that even the president of Henri Bendel congratulated me in person for the hit sales of my design.



In 2001

Sales of my collections were brisk and the business was successful.

A popular design, called the ‘Jenn collection’, was particularly favored in Japanese fashion magazines at the time.

Not long afterwards, though, the 9.11 synchronized terrorist attacks on New York City devastated us and changed many things.

In 2007

I began selling the handbags I had developed with the collaborative of Kenyan women.



 



 

In1999 

I expanded wholesale business throughout the U.S., beginning with ENK Coterie and Barneys and followed soon after by 60 other specialty stores including Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, and Scoop.

I participated in
Premier Classe in Paris and established wholesale connections with approximately 30 stores abroad, including Joyce Hong Kong and Harrods in London.


In 2000

I entered into an exclusive sales contract with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. for imports to the Japanese market.
I started selling to Japanese specialty stores, Hankyu Umeda and others, and by this time my global business had expanded to reach more than 300 stores all over the world.


In 2003

with business expansion, I move the shop to the Soho district.

I tripled my retail space and was able to showcase my own wallet, hat, scarf, and jewelry designs along with my handbag designs.

The KAZUYO NAKANO brand became a broader image

The Soho location became a concept store for the KAZUYO NAKANO NEW YORK brand.



























 

In 2003

I entered an exclusive business partnership in Japan with Yoshinaga Co., Ltd. They produced and sold KAZUYO NAKANO designs in Japan to Estination-Roppongi and Matsuya-Ginza.

In 2004

I opened a shop in Mitsukoshi-Nihonbashi and olso sold my designs through 15 other department stores in Japan, including Isetan, Daimaru and Takashimaya.


In 2010

I started selling to a new fashion market. at the “Jupiter Shop Channel”,

a major Japanese TV program, offering clothing and handbags with New York style’s elegance .


In 2000

KAZUYO NAKANO CLOTHING LINE

I established a clothing line, and began to sell well and were a great sensation.

In 2006

My wallet design sales expanded my handbag market from 22 stores to 47 stores.



In 2009

I developed a special product plan in coordination with “the pink ribbon motion” Breast Cancer Awareness early detection campaign

In 2009

I closed my Soho store and began doing trunk shows in collaboration with a personal shopper, selling my products through elegant events that offered shopping along with food and wine.


I also ventured into exotic skin design and produced a collection suited to the luxury market.
